Envision Financial Division 1

About Optimist Division 1

Optimist Junior Interclub Curling League Division 1 is for curlers 13-17 years of age with 2 years or more experience who are looking for a higher level of competition.  While more competitive than Divisions 2/3/4, skill development and balanced competition is still the focus.  Division 1 is ideally suited to teams and curlers looking to hone their skills while building strategies for the next level.

To be eligible for Division 1, all curlers must belong to a Curling Club and must be a part of the clubs junior program.

Spares Eligibility

In the Optimist Junior Interclub League, spares are not allowed to spare down to a lower level division. This means that any current or former Division 1 player cannot spare for a Division 2/3/4 team. Former Division 1 players are not eligible to spare in Division 1. If a team has more than 4 players, the player(s) who are not playing a game, can spare for any other team in the same Division.

Division 2/3/4 players may spare a maximum of 2 games at Division 1 level.  Any Division 2/3/4 player who plays more than 2 games at the Division 1 level is ineligible to return to Division 2/3/4.
