About Optimist Division 1

While more competitive than Divisions 2 and 3, skill development and balanced competition is still the focus. Envision Financial Division 1 is ideally suited to teams and curlers looking to hone their skills while building strategies for the next level.
To be eligible for Division 1, all teams must belong to a curling or other community organization (Scouts, Guides, Churches, ect.) and must be a part of the organization’s junior curling program.

Spares Eligibility
In the Optimist Junior Interclub League, spares are not allowed to spare down to a lower level division. This means that any current or former Division 1 player cannot spare for a Division 2 or 3 team. Former Division 1 players are not eligible to spare in Division 1. If a team has more than 4 players, the player(s) who are not playing a game, can spare for any other team in the same Division.
Division 2 and 3 players may spare a maximum of 2 games at Division 1 level. Any Division 2 or 3 player who plays more than 2 games at the Division 1 level is ineligible to return to Division 2 or 3.
